My name is Blake Herman. I was born with a bi-lateral cleft lip and cleft palate. This has shaped who I am today in many respects. My goal with Cleft Community is to provide not only a resource for children who were born with clefts and/or other cranio-facial differences and their families, but also to create a community for them as well. Approximately 1 in 700 children every year are born with these types of birth defects. These children and their families should know they are not alone and that there are many resources available to them, as well as people and organizations ready to offer assistance and support. In creating Cleft Community, my goal is to create the type of website and community that I wished had been available for me and my family when I was growing up.
